David Fore, LMFT

David Fore, LMFT, is a psychotherapist in private practice in Oakland and Orinda, California. He works with individuals and their relationships, including romantic and family relationships, which he sees as places of insight, experiential learning, and growth.

His approach is integrative, relational, somatic, experiential, trauma-informed, and presence-centered. David helps clients recognize what is happening within themselves and between people, where longstanding patterns of protection and adaptation can become opportunities for greater flexibility, intimacy, discernment, and choice.

His training and influences include Somatic Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (Somatic EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, and Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), including training with Dan Siegel, along with attachment theory and nervous-system regulation.

He is especially interested in moving beyond talking about patterns to noticing how they unfold in the present—in the body, emotions, attention, and relationship. That awareness can create more room to stay connected to oneself while remaining connected to others.

Mindfulness and contemplative traditions are central influences in his work. His background includes many years of yoga, meditation, pranayama, the Realization Process, trauma-informed yoga teaching, and advanced training in classical Tantra yoga philosophy and practices with the Tantra Illuminated community.

David is drawn to where contemporary psychology, somatic and relational therapy, and contemplative traditions meet. The invitation is not simply to feel better, but to inhabit yourself more fully, meet familiar patterns with greater choice, and use the challenges of relationship and ordinary life as opportunities for growth.
